In recent years, Gareth Southgate's England has improved in leaps and bounds, carrying the expectations of the whole nation as they compete in top-flight international competitions. For many veteran football fans, however, the finale against Italy in Euro 2020 was not the most memorable journey. The most fondly remembered summer, as it turns out, is when Terry Venables' side made it all the way to the semi-finals in Euro 96 and played one of the best, iconic games in history. Alan Shearer
Born on August 13, 1970, Alan Shearer is a former footballer and manager who served as a striker in a team. During his career, he was considered one of the best strikers among his fellow sportsmen and became a record goalscorer in the Premier League. As the country's talisman, e was the reason for the great optimism around England's chances at Euro 96. The football player scored 31 goals in 35 games for Blackburn the previous season and five goals in the European Championship.

After a brief stint as manager of Newcastle, in which he failed to save them from relegation, Shearer then switched to become a job pundit. Now, he's a regular face for the BBC and appears on Match of the Day.
Tony Adams
Born on October 10, 1966, Tony Adams is currently a football manager with a past of playing on the field. He was the captain of Arsenal and England clubs, with his fans calling him one of the best Arsenal footballers of all time. During his peak, Adams was known for his aggressive but also very smart defensive style.

Following his retirement, Mr. Arsenal tried his hands at management, leading various teams such as Wycombe Wanderers, Portsmouth, Granada, and Azerbaijani club Gabala FK. However, his most noticeable mark was in 2000 when he set up the Sporting Chance Clinic for athletes with addiction issues. He's now also the Rugby League's UK President.
Sol Campbell
An experienced football manager and former player, Sol Campbell, was born on September 18, 1974. He has had 20 years of experience in the Premier League and represented England for 11 years when playing internationally. Just like Tony Adams, Sol Campbell was a hero at Arsenal and built most of his fame there. He was the key part of Arsenal's 'invincible squad' in the 2003/2004 season.

After a rather thriving period with Macclesfield, which came to an end on bad terms with Campbell accusing the club of not paying him money, the candid center-back went to Southend. The legendary football player left following the team's relegation to League Two and has since appeared on TV shows to give expert opinions about football.
Tim Flowers
The former goalkeeper in the Premier League for Blackburn Rovers, Tim Flowers, was born on February 3, 1967. He is also a football manager in England. Despite having quite an impressive talent in catching balls, he scarcely received a kick for the Three Lions. This was all because of Seaman's brilliance for the club and his country in the Euro game 1996.
Flowers' current job
Since his retirement, he has changed his occupation to managing. He became manager of Stafford Rangers before a spell as a caretaker at Northampton, before moving to Barnet. Unfortunately, the former goalkeeper did not receive good results as Barnet lost 11 of a total of 12 games at the helm, leading to his departure in March.
David Seaman
Born on September 19, 1963, David Seaman was a footballer whose role was goalkeeping. His prime time was when he was an Arsenal and England goalkeeper in the 1990s and early 2000s. As England's uncontested number one for the competition, David Seaman played every minute of Venables' side's incursion into the latter rounds and was crucial to the quarter-final victory against Spain on penalties.

Seaman has had an intriguing retirement, with his performance on Dancing on Ice a notable highlight. He is currently back in the game as a goalkeeping coach for Wembley FC in London.
Ian Walker
Born on October 31, 1971, Ian Walker is a former professional player and a football coach. As a footballer, he had a goalkeeping role for Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City in the Premier League. From 1994 until right before his exit in 2001, he was their first-choice keeper after earning 259 league games for Spurs.
Walkers' current job
After retiring, he organized the non-league Bishop's Stortford before heading to China in 2012 to coach for Shanghai Shenhua. Two years later, he took a similar position at rival Shanghai SIPG and has since held the position. Walkers and his family also took up permanent residence in China.
Stuart Pearce
Born on April 24, 1962, Stuart Pearce worked as a footballer for many years before becoming a professional football manager. He served as a defender for Wealdstone, Coventry City, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, West Ham United, and Manchester City. People mostly admire his twelve years of success and victory with Nottingham Forest, when he led the team skillfully. He became the club's most capped international with appearances of 76 over 78 England games and played for the national side nine times.
Pearce's current job
After he retired from the game, Pearce challenged himself in management. After brief stints at Manchester City and Nottingham Forest, as well as England’s Under-21 and even Team GB at the London 2012 Olympic games, Pearce is now a member of David Moyes' backroom team at West Ham. At the end of the 2021-22 season, the former England international left the club to pursue other interests.
Gareth Southgate
Born on September 3, 1970, Gareth Southgate was a defender and midfielder from England. Playing with both Middlesbrough and Aston Villa, Southgate won the League Cup. From 1995 to 2004, Southgate played 57 times for the England club in other countries. In May 2006, the then-35-year-old footballer decided to end his glorious career, having played more than 500 league games.

The talented sportsman, who made his first appearance for England in 1995, was a right-back at Manchester United for more than 10 years. He played for the country at several tournaments including three European Championships and two World Cups. With 85 games, Gary is England's most-captured right-back.

The brother of Gary Neville, Phil Neville was born on January 21, 1977. The chief coach of MLS team Inter Miami is a former player and a football manager. Because of his versatility, he played in a variety of positions during his career such as defense or midfield but was most frequently seen as a full-back.
