On September 8th, 2022, Elizabeth II, the Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms, who had been the British monarch with the longest reign, passed away at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. She was 96 years old. The announcement of her death was made public at 6:30 pm. Charles III, her eldest son, succeeded her as the monarch.

On December 9, 2022, King Charles III and Camilla, Queen Consort visited Wrexham AFC in Wales, where they met with the club's co-owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Wrexham AFC, which was established in 1864, holds the distinction of being the third-oldest professional football team in the world. In late 2020, the club was purchased by Hollywood actors Reynolds and McElhenney.

Their Majesties, The King and The Queen Consort, graced the annual Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey on Monday, March 13. It was the first time The King attended the event as a monarch. The welcoming ceremony featured a traditional Māori greeting from Ngāti Rānana London Māori Club. The King fondly reminisced about his late mother's dedication to the Commonwealth family and how the event was a source of pride for her. He also spoke of the awe-inspiring diversity of the Commonwealth and its potential as a force for good.

During their visit to "Yorkshire's food capital", the King and Queen Consort had the opportunity to indulge in gin, macarons and gelato. They were welcomed by local food and drink producers at the Talbot Yard Food Court in Malton, North Yorkshire. Despite the rain, hundreds of people gathered in the foodie destination and market town to greet the royal visitors. As Queen Camilla, this was Camilla's first official engagement since the unveiling of her new title on the invitations for the King's coronation in May.

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday

The first Easter Sunday service at Windsor Castle since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II was attended by the King and other important royals. Accompanied by the Queen Consort Camilla, Prince Charles was joined by his siblings, the Princess Royal and Duke of York, who followed immediately behind. Additionally, the Prince and Princess of Wales were in attendance along with their children.

Easter Coins

Easter Coins

On April 6, 2023, King Charles has participated in an age-old Easter custom for the first time. Joining forces with the Queen Consort, the monarch dispensed specially designed coins at York Minster as part of a day's worth of visits in the area. Each sachet contained a memento toasting the King's impending 75th birthday, as well as one commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Windrush generation. The act of royal gift-giving on Maundy Thursday traces its roots back to the year AD 600.
